Nikola Pekovic, in talks with the Minnesota Timberwolves

According to Tony Ronzone, recently hired as assistant coach of the Minnesota Timberwolves, Nikola Pekovic has agreed with the NBA franchise to play there next season. The agent of the Montenegrin center, now playing for Panathinakos, denied any deal but admited talks between both parts. The Wolves were reported months ago to be interested in the 24-year-old player, who averaged 14.3 points and 3.8 rebounds in 21.5 minutes per game in the last Euroleague.

Armani Jeans Milano signs officially Jaime Arnold

As expected, and after some doubts during the last days, Armani Jeans Milano has announced officially the signing of Jamie Arnold for the rest of the season. The American forward arrives from Peristeri, averaging 14.7 points and 6.2 rebounds in the Greek A1 league. Arnold is back to Italy after playing last season for Virtus Bologna

Caja Laboral and Sean Singletary part ways

Caja Laboral has announced officially that Sean Singletary is no longer player of the team, after reaching an agreement with the American guard to terminate his contract. Singletary, who arrived last November, was averaging 2.3 points and 1.4 assists in 11 minutes per game in the ACB league. His departure from Caja Laboral was expected after the signing of Milt Palacio.

Sofoklis Schortsanitis, ready to play for Los Angeles Clippers

According to the agent of Sofoklis Schortsanitis, the Greek center is ready to leave Europe and play in the NBA. The 24-year-old player, now in Olympiakos, could get a $6-8 million 3-year contract with the Los Angeles Clippers, the NBA team that hold Schortsanitis' rights. The Houston Rockets were also reported to be interested in the Greek player.

Gary Forbes, who is averaging 20.3 points and 8.7 rebounds per game for Ironi Ramat Gan, is attracting the interest of other Israeli teams. Maccabi Haifa and Hapoel Jerusalem are reported to want the 25-year-old Panamanian forward for the next season. Forbes landed in Ironi Ramat Gan last February after being released by Vanoli Cremona.

Eric Musselman (as expected), Herb Brown and Nick Nurse are the three final candidates to coach the Dominican Republic National Team this summer. Nick Nurse is currently the head coach of the Iowa Energy, in the D-League, while Herb Brown is an assistant of his brother Larry in the Charlotte Bobcats. The 74-year-old veteran coach was also in charge of the Detroit Pistons between 1975 and 1977. Other candidates considered were Melvin López, José Maíta Mercedes and Chicho Sibilio.

San Antonio Spurs want to land Tiago Splitter next season

Two representatives from the San Antonio Spurs, Claudio Crippa and George Felton, attended last game of Caja Laboral in Madrid to watch Tiago Splitter and talk with him, according to the print form of the Spanish magazine "Gigantes del Basket". The Spurs, the franchise that holds the NBA rights of the Brazilian center, want to land Splitter next season. The 24-year-old player, now in the second of his 4-year contract with Caja Laboral, has a opt-out clause this summer to leave the team and go to the NBA.

The Gallitos de Isabela have decided to release Shaun Pruitt and Lee Benson due to conduct problems.
